Rita
wins the 2009 HYC Autumn League in style.
We are proud to be associated with some of the oldest
racing classes in the world, including the famous
HOWTH 17 Class.
Class captin Marcus Lynch commissioned a complete suit
of BATT sails for Rita, Howth Seventeen number 1. She is
seen here winning the penultimate race in Howth Yacht Club's
recent 'Autumn League' series, which she went on to win.
Classic yachts like this present any sail maker with real
challenges. Batt Sails bring the best out of this unique
mix of traditional style and modern materials with the same
computer modelling techniques and digital cutting they use
for the most advanced high-tech rigs and all other racing
and cruiser sails.
Note the spinaker pole set on the windward side of the
jib. On every gybe the whole lot has to pass round in front
of the forestay!
These are powerful little boats. The tops'l is regularlys
used in winds of up to about 20 knots
In the photo below the heritage of the current Howth 17
fleet is self-evident.
